For those who have experienced sexual abuse, by the hands of strangers or those loved & trusted. To offer support to victims of incest, molestation, rape, all levels of abuse and inappropriate behavior of a sexual nature. Let's all help each other heal. This is our place! |
A new video coming to libraries showing that while parents fear strangers, trusted acquaintances are almost always the sexual predators of children. For anyone sexually molested by someone they knew, this will all seem too familiar.
If you’ve been abused, you spend years keeping silent and more than likely manage the way you feel, or don’t feel, alone. For victims at young ages, such as myself, the magnitude of handling what’s happened alone, as a child, is overwhelming. I often say that I’m okay and I handled it fine, but the reality is, no one ever does.
Then you do something like me and begin to talk about it. Some of the reason is to heal, some of the reason is to punish and some of the reason is because you want someone outed in case there are other victims like yourself you want to help heal as well. That was more my reason, and I’m glad I did. Being one of two people I knew were abused, starting to speak up, and finding out there were so many others. Did I help by talking about it? Did I hurt? I’ll never know, but at least I am conscious of how supportive I need to be to others.
This blog is for me and for whomever randomly signs up for it some day. It received the acknowledgement and encouragement I so wanted by one or two family members and the same amount of friends, but that’s okay. I’m used to being alone on this subject. And maybe one day this stuff will help one person deal with it all - and that will make me happy. But in the meantime, I’m still taking this solo journey. Sad but true.

They offer inpatient & outpatient assistance. It’s a phenomenal place, with phenomenal people to help. Very intensive, and, in my opinion, effective.

Lambs bring thoughts of innocence and purity, with caretakers like Mary and Lil’ Bo Peep looking out for their safety and well-being. Those who have experienced sexual abuse as young children and/or adolescents are about as pure and innocent as they come, but inevitably did not get the protection and care they deserved or needed.
I’m one of those lambs, and, sadly, there are a lot out there.
I don’t claim to have any great answers, but what I know is that I needed, and continue to need, people that understand what I went through, what I’m going through and what it will take to make me whole again.
So, just because
